about

Force, Matter and Energy. min002

The first ever EP by Londoners Leyden Jars is their nascent expedition - the fruits of too much time messing around in the dark, the product of hardware experiments.

First up is Strontium, a late night voyeuristic peep through Patrick Cowley's VHS curtains with Powell in the kitchen doing the washing up and ghostly vocals echoing from the flat next door.

Next is a direct to tape space adventure, a lost cosmonaught orbiting our earthly ears after a mission to the moog.

Track three is an exploratory drone, a marine ritual attended by Rabih Beaini and Dariush Dolat-Shahi. With fizzing arpeggiated synth work, underwater chants and what could be a cello, or strings across the mouth of a cave. Intense, intoxicating Lebanese smoke on a sultry night.

Finally they end the EP with Murmurations. The insane loop will send you bonkers as it burrows into your brain; the distorted sound of the dangerous ice cream van dishing out your wobbliest dreams or your most awkward nightmares.

More releases are in the pipeline we are reliably informed (they are working on their debut LP as we speak) and expect Leyden Jars to be playing a sticky basement near you.
